Message from IFIP TC3 Chair

Welcome to IFIP TC3 WCCE 2022!

Dear participants,

I am delighted that IFIP TC3 is holding its regular World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE) in 2022. Due to the recent worldwide pandemic and ensuing lockdown and travel restrictions, we delayed our regular four-yearly WCCE, which would normally have been held in 2021, and is now being run in 2022. An IFIP TC3 WCCE is always a very special conference – and this is certainly so on this occasion, not just because it is a first hybrid IFIP TC3 WCCE, but also it is the first IFIP TC3 WCCE that is run in Japan.

I am indebted to those that have made this conference possible, and particularly to those who have had to develop approaches and practices that allow this IFIP TC3 WCCE to run virtually as well as face-to-face. To achieve this is no mean feat, and has involved considerable commitment, effort and ingenuity on the part of many individuals. I am grateful to the enormous efforts of the local organising committee in making the conference hybrid facilities possible, enabling us to work together on the important topic of this conference. My thanks to the support and devotion of the co-chairs and programme committee of this event, enabling us all to benefit from continued shared opportunities and experiences. I have no doubt that coming to Hiroshima in Japan will offer a wonderful set of experiences, but, should the current situation of necessary restrictions continue, the hybrid possibility will still allow us to work together again.

I encourage you to attend this important conference set in a wonderful location – please come and join us – and welcome!

Professor Don Passey, Chair, IFIP TC3
