The Information Processing Society of Japan (IPSJ) is pleased to welcome you to the World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE) 2022 at the International Conference Center Hiroshima, which is situated in Hiroshima, a Peace Memorial City in Japan. It is our honour to host the WCCE 2022 conference and its theme 'Towards a Collaborative Society through Creative Learning', which reflects society's underlying aspiration to contribute to the field of education.

Supporting creative learning with digital technologies is a crucial and universal issue in education, especially as a basis for future collaborative societies. Moreover, we also believe that the realisation of a collaborative society through creative learning is a paramount prerequisite for establishing a peaceful state in the current increasingly uncertain world. These conceptions resonate with the desire for world peace that the City of Hiroshima, as a Peace Memorial City, continues to have. In WCCE 2022, we look forward to making fruitful collaborations with international and national teachers, scholars, practitioners, and policymakers worldwide.

IPSJ, as the largest and leading society in information technology in Japan, plays a vital role in realising the information society of the 21st century through its science, cultural, and industrial activities. Concerning hosting WCCE 2022, two of the special interest groups of IPSJ, Computers in Education (SIGCE) and Collaboration and Learning Environment (SIGCLE), which represent researchers and practitioners engaging in digital education and technologies supporting education in IPSJ, take responsible roles on behalf of IPSJ.

We are pleased to collaborate with IFIP, which is an international organisation, established in the year 1960 under the auspices of UNESCO, with TC3 devoted to the cause of education. IFIP constitutes international leading researchers, practitioners, developers and policy makers in the area of education technology, and we look forward to an enriching engagement with the conference delegates.
